Description

Chikankari Wash & Care Instructions

  • Dry Clean First Time: Always opt for dry cleaning for the first wash to retain the fabric’s texture and protect the delicate hand embroidery.
  • Hand Wash or Soft Machine Wash: For subsequent washes, gently hand wash separately in cold water using a mild detergent, or use a soft/ delicate cycle in the washing machine with similar care. Avoid vigorous or heavy machine washing to protect the embroidery
  • Dry in Shade: Always dry the garment in shade, away from direct sunlight, to prevent fabric discoloration and thread fading.
  • Do Not Soak: Avoid prolonged soaking, especially for silk and georgette fabrics, as it can weaken the threads and embroidery.
  • Use Mild Detergents: Choose gentle or pH-neutral detergents specifically made for delicate or embroidered fabrics.
  • Iron on Reverse: Always iron on the reverse side on low to medium heat to avoid flattening the embroidery design.
  • Store Carefully: Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Handle with Clean Hands: Natural oils and dirt can stain light-colored fabrics and embroidery, so ensure hands are clean when handling.
  • Keep Fresh: For furnishings not in regular use, place them in shade occasionally to keep them fresh and free from musty odors.
